Athlete Information

Practice Times

Starting Blocks and hurdles and will be provided on the following days and times:

Thursday, June 8th       4:00 pm - 6:00pm

Friday, June 9th       4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Bib Numbers

Athletes arriving by plane can pick up their bib numbers in the lobby of Loyola at Saint Mary’s University.

Local athletes can pick up bib numbers in the lobby of the Homburg Centre beginning at 3:30 pm on June 10th, 2017.

Marshalling

Athletes must report to the Athlete Control Centre (Main Gym) Homburg Centre, adjacent to the Press Box) no later than 30 minutes prior to their event. Spike length will be checked at that time.

Athletes will be held in the gym until 10 minutes prior to their event (hurdlers - 20 minutes) at which time an official will march you to the start line and you will be turned over to the assistant starters. Introductions by the Announcer will commence 3 minutes before race time.

Travel Money

Travel money can be picked up at the Homburg Centre, VIP Lounge beginning at 6:30 pm.

ACCOMMODATIONS INFORMATION 2017

Saint Mary’s University Residence

There are residence accommodations available for arrival on June 8 and departure on June 11, 2017. The nightly rates are:

  • Single Room (sleeps 1) $ 56.95
  • Double Room (sleeps 2) $ 99.95
  • 2 Bedroom Apartment (sleeps 4)   $ 142.95
  • Travel Suite $ 72.95

All rates include hot breakfast buffet, linen, towels, housekeeping, parking, Homburg Athletic Centre pass for the duration of stay (for guests over 16 years of age), wireless internet and all taxes.

Residence check in is anytime after 3:00pm and check-out is by 11:00am on the day of your departure. Early arrivals or late departures can be arranged with sufficient notice. The residence check-in desk is located on the 1st floor of the Loyola Building, 5865 Gorsebrook Avenue. It is open 24-hours a day and can be reached at (902) 420-5049.

In our Rice Residence, a 17 story high rise, there are six furnished apartments per floor. An apartment consists of two bedrooms or three bedrooms, kitchen, small living/dining area and bathroom. Each bedroom is furnished with two captain’s style single beds (one bed per bedroom in three bedroom apartments), desks, shelves, lamps, drawers and closet space. One apartment can house up to four people (up to three people in a three bedroom apartment). All linen and towels are supplied but dishes and kitchen utensils are not. There are two elevators in this residence.

Our Loyola Residence is a 22-storey high-rise with each floor divided into four suites. Most suites have one twin room, four single rooms, shared washroom and shower facilities. Bedrooms are furnished as study rooms with captain's-style single beds, desk with hutch, chair and telephone (free local calls). There are no kitchen facilities in this residence. Four elevators are available.

The residence complex houses a ATM bank machine (Royal Bank), hair salon, barber shop, convenience store, Tim Horton's, residence dining hall and two laundromats. Most buildings on campus connect to the residences.

Accommodations

We require payment of your account upon check-in to residence. Payment can be made with cash, Interact, Visa, MasterCard or Travellers Cheques.

Food Service

The University caterer, Aramark Higher Education, provides all food service on campus. Catering information and menus can be found at www.smuaramark.caterax.com. If you have any questions or wish to discuss menu options and pricing you can contact Catering Office at 902 420-5159 or by email at catering at smu.ca.

Parking

For guests staying in accommodations on campus, parking is provided at no additional charge. The Arena parking lot is located on the corner of Inglis Street and Tower Road. Please pick up your Parking Pass from the Front Desk upon arrival and display it in the front windshield of your vehicle.

For guests not in accommodation, passes are $5.00 per day and can be obtained from the Facilities Management Department, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:00pm, located on the 1st floor basement of the McNally Building, Room 001 (south side of building - directly across from the Sobey Building).

Free evening parking is available, Monday to Friday, after 5:00pm in spaces designated as "general" and in "faculty" spaces after 8:00pm. On weekends, all parking spaces can be used. There is no overnight parking permitted.
